January 13, 2019

By October Staff, January 13, 2019

  • 1/15
    Cascade's Valley Flora
    Northwest

This unique sour red ale uses Willamette Valley-grown pinot noir grapes and a mix of traditional brewing and winemaking techniques. Native fruit fermentation and extended oak maturation add notes of dark bramble fruit, plum, cherry, earth and oak supported by a balanced tannic structure and lively acidity.

  • 1/15
    Lagunitas' Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale
    Northwest

This malty, rich ale with a snappy hop-forward finish defies conventional categorizations.

  • 1/16
    Terrapin's Liquid Bliss
    Southeast

This smooth, mellow porter has enough backbone to support the rich additions of chocolate and peanut butter. The result is a sophisticated, decidedly grown-up spin on a childhood classic.

  • 1/16
    Dogfish Head's Perfect Disguise
    Northeast

Although this double IPA has the tropical flavors and citrus-heavy hop notes one might expect, it also sports a crisp, Kölsch-like finish.

  • Here's a sampling of the best beers being released in the coming week around the nation.

    Midwest

Familiar citrusy hop notes are balanced by a subtle sweetness imparted by locally grown peaches in this imperial IPA.
