The perfect beer: Some would say such a thing does not exist. Some would say perfection is something one strives for but can never attain. Sound like that someone could use a beer. This month, October found a perfect beer, or, at least, a beer received a perfect score of 100. Without further ado, it’s time to meet said beer and October’s other top-rated beers for the month of July.

87: Tree House Brewing Co.’s Old Man

“Old Man—brewed in honor of one of the owner’s father—is true to style and a delightful alternative to the hazy IPAs.” —Jared Paventi

87: Deschutes Brewery’s Pinedrops IPA

“This beer is maybe the most refreshing IPA I've ever had. There is none of the heaviness or sticky mouthfeel you get even with session IPAs.” —Pete Keeley

87: Surly Brewing Company’s Xtra-Citra Pale Ale

“Naming a beer after a hop challenges a brewer to make full use of it, and Surly certainly does that with Xtra-Citra.” —Tucker Anders

87: Wiseacre Brewing Co.’s Tiny Bomb

“Tiny Bomb is highly quaffable while remaining interesting, packing waves of flavor into a low-ABV beer explosion.” —Tucker Anders

88: 3 Floyds Brewing Co.’s Necron 99

“This unique take on the IPA style makes for a memorable flavor ride that is more of a one-and-done brew, meaning Necron 99 is a great candidate for a one beer kind of night.” —Tucker Anders

100: Toppling Goliath Brewery’s King Sue

“It’s a big, fresh pillow of succulence. Press your forehead to the floor and thank the sky sovereigns that this beer exists.” —Jerard Fagerberg
