Announcing a True Beer and Music Festival: OctFest

June 27, 2017

By Eno Sarris, June 27, 2017

OctFest will be an epic one-day music and beer festival on September 9th in Brooklyn, NY, and will feature artists like Guided By Voices, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Okkervil River, The Sadies, Kilo Kish, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and more. That’s some legendary upbeat guitar-driven indie rock, an underground soul star, a couple rock bands that have more of a folk background, and that’s just to start. You’ll have plenty of great music to choose from.

That's great news, even if choices are not always awesome. Sometimes, we’re forced into choices. Like, for example, you could go to a good beer fest this weekend and hear whatever music they find lying around. Or, you could go to a music fest and hear great music, and drink whatever beer they happened to partner with.

That sort of choice is not one we like here at October especially. Because beer is life and life is beer, we’d rather have a ‘beer-plus’ approach. Let’s go to a music festival with great beer from all over the world, or a beer festival with some of the best bands in music today. Let’s not have the kind of choices that are forced upon us, let us instead have the kinds of choices we like: Which one of these great beers will I try? Which one of these great bands will I target?

In that vein of thought, October, partnering with Pitchfork, is proud to announce OctFest, coming to Brooklyn’s this September 9th. The Festivities will take place in The Brooklyn Hangar in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Tickets are $60 and get you access to live music and all the tasting you can manage in between all the rest of the fun you’re having.

OctFest will be an epic one-day music and beer festival featuring standout live music by artists like Guided By Voices, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Okkervil River, The Sadies, Kilo Kish, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and more. Music for music lovers.

But the beer will have you busy as well. Your ticket gets you unlimited tasting during your four-hour session, and the breweries on hand are impressive, from the hyper local to the international. Here’s the list as it stands now, just because it’s just so damn beautiful.
